Harvest Thanksgiving

Les Allen, the manager of Sparkhill Foodbank will speak at both churches. Gifts of non-perishable food are welcome but there is an urgent need for toiletries, including toilet rolls, shampoo and shower gel, deodorants, razors and shaving foam, sanitary products, baby products including nappies. Lists are on the Charitable Giving notice-boards in both churches. Gifts may be presented during the opening processional harvest hymn.

Oberammergau 2020

oberammagauI would like to lead a pilgrimage to see the Oberammergau Passion Play in July 2020. The trip will be by luxury coach from Moseley if we can get enough folk to fill it. The tour is operated by Leger Holidays.

A seven day (six nights) tour with three nights in Austria, two in Belgium and one in Oberammergau including all travel, 4/5 star accommodation and a ticket to the play will cost around £1,225 per person based on two people sharing a room. Single supplement is £259. Please note that this will be post Brexit.

God, Jesus and the journey of life in six one hour sessions with DVD clips, discussion, time for reflection – and cake! If you are new to the Christian faith or to church, or if you've got questions about life and the Christian faith, this could be for you. Although this will run for six Tuesday evenings, it's fine to come along if you can't make all of them. Take a look at the flyer on the Welcome desk to see more. Prayer Vigil for Peace

Wednesday 20 September, 7:30 p.m., St Mary’s Church

As part of the World Week for Peace in Palestine and Israel there will be a special Prayer Vigil for Peace. It will be followed by refreshments.

Art exhibition

A selection of artworks by Joyce Rimmer will be on display in the Kings Heath Church Café between Sunday 3 September and Sunday 15 October.

Prayer Circle

Tuesday 12 September, 7:30 p.m., the Vestry at St Anne’s church. (The door is on the left side of the church towards the back.)

At the next Prayer Circle we will be making prayer stations for both churches on the subject Fresh Steps. Please bring any materials on this topic which you would like to contribute. Please contact Liz Blzakey, Helen McNicoll or Elisabeth Leicester for more information.


Commencing on Wednesday 6 September in St Mary’s Lady Chapel, Peter Alcock will be hosting a new series of ‘Silentspace’. The sessions will take place between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Patronal Festival Lunch

Sunday 10 September, 12 noon, St Mary's Church

To celebrate the Patronal festival we will be serving a lunch at St Mary’s following refreshments after the service. As the food will be provided we will be asking for a minimum donation of £5 to cover costs. Any surplus monies raised will be donated to our Benefice charities. Sign-up sheets will be available in both churches. Please sign up so we know the numbers to cater for.
