Harvest Sunday, 2 October

Celebrating and supporting the 50th Anniversary of the Malawi Birmingham Partnership. Canon Claire Laland OBE will be speaking at the 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. services.

Birmingham Diocese want to make a contribution to education in Malawi by funding a girls’ hostel and classroom blocks in four areas across the country. Donations to the education projects will be gratefully received (there will be plates on the welcome desks), and you are also invited to bring non-perishable food items to our harvest services; these will be delivered to Sparkhill Food Bank.

Many thanks, the Charitable Giving Group.

Parking

Please note that Moseley Car Park now charges for parking on Sundays during the day.

St Mary's Backpack Service

This Sunday in worship we will all join together to give thanks for the gift of education and for all the educators in our midst at the annual 'Backpack Service' at 10:00 a.m. Bring your backpacks, messenger bags, briefcases – whatever you carry with you each day. We'll pray for you and all that you and your carry-all get up to day after day. I look forward to the opportunity to speak to the congregation about God's special love for children and their innate sense of justice. There will even be a bit of a history/culture quiz in there for some thought provoking fun. I hope you will join me this Sunday to worship our great God.

With kind regards,
Tammy
Children's Work Co-ordinator

Silentspace @ St Mary's and St Anne's

We have been running a contemplative prayer session on Wednesday 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. for some time. As the new term starts it felt like time to review and develop. Now, the intent is to offer a regular, welcoming, inclusive and facilitated drop-in time under the name Silentspace @ St Mary's and St Anne's. A place of silence and peace open to all. Silentspace – be present, be silent, be compassion. The core practice is a shared time of silence open to God and open to all. The regular meeting will be weekly in the Lady Chapel at St Mary's, 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Other times can be arranged. Hope to share some silence and peace.

Peter Alcock.
