Benefice Lunch – Thanks

Thank you to everyone who attended the Benefice lunch last Sunday. We raised £200 for our Benefice charities ‘The Children's Society’, ‘Medecin sans Frontieres’ and the ‘Diocesan Malawi Fund’.

Celebration of Candlemas

This weekend sees the celebration of Candlemas, the end of the Christmas & Epiphany Season. We remember and celebrate the presentation of the baby Jesus to God in the Temple at Jerusalem.

Our usual services take place at 8am and 10am at St Mary’s, and 11am at St Anne’s. In the evening at 6.30pm at St Mary’s we have a special service of readings, prayer and music for Candlemas. All are welcome.

Wednesday 18 January, 7:30 p.m., The Vicarage, 18 Oxford Road

This month we are invited to reflect on a film exploring the power of the cult (Cert 15)

KSIMC – Clifton Road Mosque open day

Sunday 5 February. Starting at 1:30 p.m.

We are invited to visit our friends at the mosque. There will a tour of the complex, an insight into the services and activities offered by the centre as well as lunch, with the evening congregational prayer being at 5:15 p.m., which you are welcome to observe. There will also be an opportunity to try out some Arabic Calligraphy or try on a hijab (Muslim headscarf) in addition to other workshops including children’s activities.

Saturday Morning Coffee Concert

Saturday 28 January, 11:00 a.m., St Mary’s Church 

For our next Coffee Concert we welcome Magenta Ladies Close Harmony Group. Music from the shows, close harmony arrangements, music to warm your heart on a winter's day.

Visit to Leicester & Southwell

Saturday 11 February, departing Moseley at 10:15 a.m., returning around 8:30 p.m.

A day out to include Leicester Cathedral, Richard III Visitor Centre, and Evensong sung by St Mary’s choirs in Southwell Minster.  Cost is £9.50 per person for the coach, with an additional £7.00 per person for the Richard III visitor centre (optional) & £3 per person for group entry and tour of Leicester Cathedral (optional). Brumdingers

A new weekly bell ringing group for youngsters from the age of 10 is underway at St Mary’s each Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. and is being run by the diocesan St. Martin’s guild of bell ringers. The cost is £2 a week to cover registration, certificates, books and refreshments. Further details from This email address is being protected from spambots. Annual Benefice Quiz

The quiz previously arranged in September had to be cancelled due to insufficient numbers. The quiz has now been rearranged for Saturday 28 January. Teams of up to 6 people required. Come in a team or join one on the night. £5 per person, bring your own drinks. Samosas and cakes on sale. Raffle. Please book your place through the Benefice Office or sign the sign-up sheets in both churches on the Welcome desks.
