Thought for the week, 30 July 2017

Matthew 13:31-33;44-52

In the scripture passages read today, the short parables Jesus related are all illustrations based on activities familiar from the everyday life of his hearers; farming, cooking and fishing.

Scientific studies show that we remember things much more accurately when the message is reinforced by visual images.

Each time the disciples observed these activities, they would remember Jesus’ message.

In society today, so flooded with visual images of every kind, the best way of making Jesus’ message understood is to live it out in practical actions every day. Then others can see and understand what it means to follow Jesus.
