Thought for the week, 21 January 2018

By Chloe Hewett

This week marks the beginning of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. Through Jesus' prayer for his disciples, that they may be as one so that the world may believe that Jesus was sent by God (John 17:21), Christians across the globe are, this week, called to be as one and pray "That All May Be Free": from injustices of human rights; modern-day slavery; addiction; worries of debt; violence; or any other adversity. Often, when we pray individually, we petition God and hope that our prayers may be answered. By praying as one, we know that our united voice will be heard throughout the heavens and God, in his almighty wisdom and power, will help us bring about the changes needed to raise our brothers and sisters in Christ out of darkness, and into his glorious light.
