Giving to St Mary’s in 2017

“What can I give Him, poor as I am?”
(Christina Rossetti)

Advent and Christmas give us the opportunity to contemplate the generosity of God to us, and to think about our own Christian giving as we prepare to give our gifts to loved ones and friends. It is a season suffused with fun and generosity, which reminds us that giving shouldn't be a chore – “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Corinthians 9:7)

The St Mary's Stewardship group will be launching a new campaign early next year, to invite you to think and pray about how you might be able to contribute to the exciting future of our church. We have so much to thank God for – our heritage, our music, our work in the community, our ministry with children and families – but our church's need is still great, both in money, and in the time and talent of our people. For the rest of Advent and in the lead up to Lent, we ask you to think about:

  • What value do I put on my membership of this church?
  • What can I contribute to the flourishing of this church?
  • “What shall I return to the Lord for all his goodness to me?” (Psalm 116:12)
