Christians worship one God, experienced as Creator (Father), Redeemer (Son) and Sustainer (Holy Spirit). Christianity is founded on the life and teaching, death and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth, as recorded in the Bible, particularly the four Gospel texts. Through him, Christians believe, the Divine nature has been revealed as a God of self-giving love, whose creative intention is for a world of justice, peace and unity.

The Christian Church, sometimes described as the Body of Christ, is the fellowship of believers, who are called to follow the way of Jesus in continuing his earthly ministry, guided and inspired by the Holy Spirit and strengthened by the holy sacraments. Although the universal Church has been fragmented by historic divisions, great strides towards unity have been made over the past century, through what is known as the Ecumenical Movement.
