Dear All,

Thank you members of Robed Choir for a most successful pair of singing engagements at Kings Heath Lodge last Friday. The audiences were thrilled with our contribution and the feedback has been uniformly positive. Well done.

Now to this coming Sunday, December 17th, with some special requests from Tammy Tearoe regarding the Nativity at 10:00am:
- Tammy would like the acting participants to be ready at 9:00am for a rehearsal.
- we will have a singing warm up at 9.30am promptly
- those youngsters who are in costume for the play should put their costumes in the Lady Chapel in advance, process in with the choir in cassocks and pop into the Lady Chapel to change with parents’ help after the Kyrie. They should then change back into cassocks again with parents’ help once the Nativity is over.

YouTube links to help everyone prepare in advance are:

I hope you’ll be able to spend some time between now and Sunday mugging up so everyone’s prepared as the weather affected our practice this Tuesday.

ALSO our iconic Service of Nine Lessons and Carols this Sunday at 6:30pm. Rehearsal at 5:00pm with tea at 6:00pm. We look forward to Christopher Maclean singing the Once in Royal solo this year! Juniors are very welcome to join us for this very special service if you would like to, singing the congregational carols.

Monday 18th December Robed Choir seniors sing in Leamington departing from St. Mary's at 8:00pm.

Tuesday 19th will be last Treble practice this year and will be more of a party! Normal time: 5:00-6:00pm.

Thursday 21st will be a busy day! We sing at the QE Hospital from 12.00 noon til 1:00pm. Gather in the main lobby to the right of the main entrance and I'll take you up to the appropriate spot. In the evening we share Duncan and Katrina's hospitality at the Vicarage. This is for Robed Choir AND Singers. No Singers rehearsal.

Friday 22nd: No Robed Choir rehearsal this evening.

Sunday 24th: Christmas Eve BUT ALSO 4th Sunday of Advent. So: Normal 10:00am service (SINGERS), 5:00pm Christingle Service (JOINT CHOIRS WITH JUNIORS) and 11:00pm Midnight Eucharist (ROBED CHOIR) with carols at 10:45pm.

Monday 25th: Christmas Day: 10:00am Parish Communion (JOINT CHOIRS). No early rehearsal. No Evensong.

Sunday December 31st: New Year's Eve: Choirs off duty. No service at St Mary's. 11:00am service at St Anne's.

No rehearsals Tuesday 2nd January, Thursday 4th January, Friday 5th January.
Choir Services resume Sunday 7th January (Epiphany) with Joint Choirs (with Juniors) at 10:00am and 6:30pm.
Normal rehearsals on Tuesday 8th (Trebles), Thursday 11th (Singers) and Friday 12th (Robed).

As you know, we were exploring the possibility of going to Glasgow Cathedral. However, for a number of competing reasons (not least that the City is hosting the European Athletics Championships at the same time which has made accommodation extremely difficult) this is now NOT happening.

However, we have secured a place at Christchurch Priory, Dorset (nr. Bournemouth) from Wednesday 8th-Sunday 12th August 2018. This is a lovely area with a beautiful Priory Church (with a nearly new organ!) and a tradition of daily services.

Rob Brown is securing accommodation at some £35 per singing person per night (plus breakfast/meal deals etc), with slightly more for non-singing guests when we know the overall take-up.

I will need to have expressions of interest this side of Christmas with a firmer take up later in the New Year. Please can you give this some consideration. Under age participants are welcome but will need to come with parental / adult supervision.

All the best, Mick
